Education in Pakistan

Federal ministry of Education oversees the education system of Pakistan and sets the rules and regulations for education system. Constitution of Pakistan obligates that children under the age 5-16 are responsibility of state .State is responsible to provide free and quality education to children. But in Pakistan the laws are not taken seriously and are not well implemented.

The educational system in Pakistan is divided into two sectors government and private. The government sector tends to follow the constitutional law and provides free education to children. It provides free books and study material as well. But unfortunately the condition of government schools is pathetic. Most of the schools are still Urdu medium and do not have qualified teachers. So relying on such system is not a good idea. On the other side, the private school systems equipped with so called modern techniques and education system is English medium .Good news people,, but wait this is even more pathetic. A private English medium school cannot be afforded by common people of lower class.

What to do now? In such a confused education system how can one decide, what to study and where to study? This is the main hindrance behind our low literacy rate. Who is going to take us out from this situation? We have to help ourselves to get out of these crisis and for this, again we obviously need education.
